Laurin

S.A.F.S. and the P.K.As had proved their superiority to older concepts in many ways.
One weak spot remained: The two-legged versions were not suited as a platform for heavy weapons.
While the mercenary troops soon introduced the famous Gradiator,
little is known about its counterpart in the Shutoral Forces:

the Laurin.

The Laurin was equipped with a stealth cloak generator, the 'Laurinator'.
One major drawback was the unstable and unreliable antimatter fuel,
because off its tendedency to blow off then and again -
the first two Laurin prototypes ended that way.

The third prototype might have done better.
At its presentation on a weapon show,it successfully demonstrated the Laurinator
but unfortunatedly was hit by a 'Hornisse' flying ultra low level at ultra high speed.

Enter Prototype Nr 5.
After all these incidents, it was imposible to find another volunteer pilot,
so one of the convicts was forced to volunteer.
They chose candidate Nr 32, Conrad Amsel, mainly because Conrad
had a long successful history being chosen as a volunteer before.
This time the Laurinator worked very well,
and this is why Conrad was able to escape and return home save.

The Mercs were eager to reveal Laurins secrets, but when Conrad left the Laurin,
 he did not turn off the Laurinator before , and they never found the Laurin again
(though volunteers were searching  a full week for it).

Sowohl S.A.F.S als auch die P.K.A.s hatten sich als äußerst effektive  und erfolgreiche Waffensysteme bewährt -
es gab jedoch auch eine Schwachstelle:  beide waren nicht als Plattform für schwere Waffen geeignet.
Die Mercenaries entwickelten bald den hervorrragenden Gradiator, jedoch ist nur wenig bekannt über sein Gegenstück bei den Shutural-Truppen:

 den Laurin

 Der Laurin war mit dem Laurinator, einem Tarnkappengenerator ausgerüstet.

Einer seiner Schwachpunkte bestand darin, da als Treibstoff Antimaterie verwendet wurde,
 wodurch die Laurins dazu tendierten , ohne jeden ersichtlichen Grund einfach zu explodieren.
 Dies passierte z.B. den ersten beiden Prototypoen.

 Der dritte Prototyp war etwas stabiler.
 Bei einer Waffenshow konnte er den Laurinator erfolgreich vorführen.
 Er wurde dann jedoch unglücklicherweise durch eine 'Hornisse' getroffen,
die im Tieflug bei Maximalgeschwindigkeit justament  eine Flugroute wählte,
die sie  mitten durch den getarnten Laurin hindurch führte.

 Dann kam der Prototyp Nr 5
Nach all den Zwischenfällen war es unmöglich, noch freiwillige Testpiloten für den Laurin zu finden,
 daher suchte man unter den Kriegsgefangenen nach Freiwilligen.
 Die Wahl fiel auf den Kandidaten Nr.32, Conrad Amsel,
der bereits auf eine lange, erfolgreiche Karriere als  gewählter Freiwilliger zurückblicken konnte.
 Diesmal funktionierte der Laurinator bestens,
und so konnte Conrad problemlos aus der Kriegsgefangenschaft fliehen.

 Die Mercenary Truppen waren sehr erpicht auf das Geheimnis des Laurinaturs,
nur leider versumte Conrad , vor dem Verlassen des Laurins das Gerät auszuschalten.
 Dieser Laurin wurde daher nie wiedergefunden.

 Naturgemäß gibt es nur ganz wenige Fotos vom Laurin,
wir sind daher sehr stolz daruf, sie Ihnen zeigen zu konnen
